Personal update

I wanted to make this post a lot earlier but I just couldn't find the time and now I'm only 2 days away from my last exam day so maybe this is a bit unnecessary, but oh well... I wanted to do a little personal update because I've been absent for almost a month! I hate neglecting my blog, but there were a few things that needed my full attention.

How to declutter your inbox

Just keeping up with your inbox could easily be your full-time job. I like to keep my inbox organised and clutter free, but it took me some time to find out the best way to do that without spending hours on it. In this post I'd like to discuss a few tips & tricks that have helped me decluttering my inbox.

What's in my bag?

Hi guys! I've been a little MIA but my final exams are coming up so the next four weeks I'll be stuck in my room studying from dawn till dusk. But I don't want to neglect my blog in the meantime so there are plenty more posts in the making.
In this post I'd like to show you what's in my bag. This isn't a special edition (well maybe it's a little bit of a spring/summer edition), I want to make another 'what's in my bag?' post when I'm traveling to New York and Toronto because I'll be carrying a few other items that I'd like to show you.

Swimwear picks

Although summer is still two months away, in some countries the weather is already hot enough to exchange your hoodie for a tropical coloured bikini or swimsuit. If that's not the case... It's the perfect time to get some inspiration and check out the latest trends on swimwear, or maybe even purchase a new bikini. I find myself browsing through the various swimwear lookbooks long before it is actually hot enough to get in bikini. But hey, better early than late! Maybe my favourite bikini or swimsuit will sell out in just a few weeks and I'll be too late to place my order (probably not, but that's my way of convincing myself)

Tips & Tricks - Self tanning guide

Now that the weather is slowly getting warmer, I like to prepare my body for the first day that I can finally wear a skirt and show my legs. To trick people into thinking I've already spend hours of tanning on a tropical island, I use self tanning products. When I first started self tanning, I was very afraid to become an orange. Therefore I started out using products like the Dove self tanning body lotion. Before using a self tanner that would instantly darken my skin a few shades, I searched online and found some pretty helpful tips to prevent yourself from turning into an orange. In this post I'd like to share my tips & tricks on self tanning!

Food: Salad with beetroot, goat cheese, walnuts and bacon

On days when the weather is warm (which will hopefully happen soon here!) I like to eat a salad. It's a light meal and highly digestible and therefore perfect for summer and spring. Because I don't like lettuce, I started experimenting with different kinds of salads without a lot of lettuce leaves. A salad with beetroot, goat cheese, walnuts and bacon is currently my favorite combination!

Night Time beauty favourites

Today I want to share with you my favourite night time beauty products. I love reading about the products other people use and in this post I'd like to share mine. My beauty regime hasn't changed much over the past few years. I've switched a couple times between different brands but I usually stick to the same products for years.

Refreshing water with lemon and mint

I have a hard time drinking water, it's just too plain for me. I used to drink a lot of lemonade, but because lemonade contains a lot of sugar I searched for a more healthy alternative. I came across something I wasn't familiar with: Flavoured water. I had seen my mom drink it before, but I thought that it was one of those tricks to lose weight and didn't think the water actually tasted like fruit ;-) But I decided to give it a try and it instantly became my favourite refreshing drink. Perfect for spring and summer.

April Goals

Paris, October 2013
Each year we all make New Years resolutions. Last year I decided to take that to the next level and make a small list of goals at the beginning of each month. I think setting goals that are not too big for yourself each month is a great way to just get things done. When I accomplish all of the goals I've made that month month, I think to myself - Hey, I proved to myself that I can do that!

5 beauty brands you need to know about

Who doesn't like to discover new beauty brands?! Since I've started blogging, I came across a lot of make up brands that I'd never heard about. In this post I'd like to share my (recent) discoveries and explain to you why I think everybody should know about this brand!

Choosing the perfect jeans: Styles

image from pinterest

Finding the perfect jean can be dreadful. There are so many styles and it's hard to find that one type of jeans that fit you perfectly. A couple of years ago, I absolutely hated shopping for jeans. I was convinced that my body was just weird and those hours spend in the fitting rooms with jeans that looked horrible on me harmed my self esteem. Two years ago, I walked into a Levi's store and found three perfect fitting jeans. I've always struggled with a 'gap' because my waist is much smaller than my hips. The store clerk recommended me to try on a 'bold curve' jean. And to my surprise, it fit perfectly. I walked out of the store with three brand new perfectly fitting jeans. That one time helped me to look out for jeans with a high waistband that hugs my waistline.

Here are some facts about different jean styles and my tips on how to find the perfect jeans.

Everyday makeup products

My daily makeup routine hasn't changed much over the past few years. I sometimes use a coloured eye pencil instead of my liquid black liner, but I usually stay with a natural look. In this post I'd like to discuss all of the makeup products I use on a daily basis and explain what I like about them.

Lip balms

Although the weather is getting better, I still feel like I need to weatherproof my lips in order to prevent chapped lips. Over the past few years, I've tried a lot of lipbalms. Most of them did an average job nursing my dry lips but nothing special. In this post I'd like to discuss 3 very different lipbalms.

5 upcoming movies I want to see

I can really enjoy spending an entire evening on the couch with a bag of crisps and a good movie. ;-) I actually prefer watching at home rather than going to the cinema. There are a lot of upcoming films that I really want to see, and I'm going to discuss five of them in this post!

ASOS spring wishlist

Playsuit - Pearl earrings - Foldover clutch - Pencil skirt - White high heels - Blue coat - Sunglasses - Floral dress

I recently purchased a dress for my graduation on and I thought 'oh well let's quickly check the 'new in' section. 2 hours (whoops) later, I added a LOT of things to my must-try-on-list. Maybe it's the turn of the season, I absolutely love spring! Florals make me so happy and all the pastel colours make me look forward to summer. Spring is a great time to introduce some new items to your wardrobe and I can't wait until I can finally wear shorts and skirts without tights again!

What do you think of my picks? Let me know!

Whoa - Crush on Blush has a new look!

Thanks to a spur of the moment decision, I bought a new Blogger template as I started to dislike my previous one. I'm very happy with this new fresh look and it has a lot of improvements compared to the old look. Unfortunately I'm not an expert on HTML, I'd love to design it all myself but to teach myself how to transfer it to HTML and other codes will take me ages... So I spend a lot of time on searching for a new template and well... Here we are!

I'm still adjusting things and hopefully by the end of this week my new blog look is completely finished!

I'm excited to hear your opinion about this new look! Please let me know what you think. ;-)

Favourite perfumes

When I was 13 years old, I used my birthday money to buy Chanel no. 5. I had to hide it from my mom though, because she thought it wasn't an appropriate fragrance for a 13-year-old. She had a point, of course, but it felt so cool to have such an expensive perfume and I used it everyday for two years straight. When I was 15 and visited Paris with my dad, I bought a similar, slightly sweeter sentence from L'Occitane, 'Vanille & Narcisse'.

Snack idea #1

Dates and walnuts.
I very recently discovered my love for dates.I discovered them when I was trying to gain weight and it instantly became my favourite thing to treat myself when I get home from school/work/etc. I'm not saying dates make you gain weight, but they can help you gain weight. ;-) I love dates as an ingredient for cake or cookies, but I also love to combine dates with walnuts, like you can see in the picture.

Things I wish I'd learned in High School #1

I often ask myself while studying something: Why do we have to learn this? I'll never use this in real life. Now that I still have 3 months left in High School before I take my final exams, I thought to myself - How much of all the stuff I've learned am I going to use in real life? Not much, I think. I mean, it's nice to be able to calculate the odds of winning a lottery, but is it really necessary to know...? Or that the wife of Louis XIV was named Maria Théresia? There are a lot of things that I struggle with now that I'm getting older, a lot of things I wish I'd learned in high school. Nothing about how popularity isn't important or anything like that, but for example, how to do your tax declarations.

Living Light

A few years ago, my parents used to call me a mess when it came to tidying up my room. I threw my clothes on the floor, never cleaned up after myself, et cetera. My dad and his girlfriend, who are real neat freaks, often had difficulties dealing with my cleaning habits and this resulted in considerable tension.

Maybe my father and his girlfriend inspired me, or someone else, I don't know, but for about two years now I try to apply the "Living Light" motto. At the beginning of my journey I didn't call it "Living Light" yet, I only tried to clean my room more often. After I'd read more and more articles about people who are "living light", I became very excited about the whole concept.

March goals

Each year we all make New Years resolutions. Last year I decided to take that to the next level and make a small list of goals at the beginning of each month. I think setting goals that are not too big for yourself each month is a great way to just get things done. When I accomplish all of the goals I've made that month month, I think to myself - Hey, I proved to myself that I can do that!

KIKO lipsticks review

I already explained my craze for the budget make-up brand KIKO in this post, but now I'm going to actually review some of the KIKO products I have! I thought it would be a bit too much to put all of the products I received lately in one post, so I'm starting with lipstick (my favourite!)

Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade

I'm always struggling with my brows, especially in the morning when I'm in a hurry. Filling in my eyebrows has become the most important part of my daily make-up routine, so I thought to myself: Why not invest in a good eyebrow product? I've got really expensive lipsticks that I rarely use, so why am I still using a cheap brown eyeshadow to fill in my eyebrows?

Photo Diary: Paris

It sounds really cliché, but Paris is my favourite city in the world. Of course there are a lot of other cities that I love to visit, like Amsterdam or London, but Paris has that special atmosphere that I can't seem to find anywhere else. I've visited Paris six times now and I just came back from my most recent visit. It was quite an extraordinary visit, because it was a school excursion and the time we actually spent in the city itself was less than 24 hours.

Inspiration: Home Interior

I could spend hours on Pinterest or Tumblr looking at the most amazing home interiors of other people. I always end up with tons of ideas and wanting to completely re-decorate my room. I'm going to share my favourite interior pictures in this post and I hope to give you some inspiration!

Valentine's Day: My V-Day in Pictures

I never wanted to celebrate Valentine's Day when I was younger. Mostly because I didn't like the commercial aspect of it, but also because I was jealous of everyone that had someone special to celebrate it with, haha. ;-)

Since augustus 2013 Valentine's Day has become more important for me, because each year on Valentine's Day, my boyfriend and I have our little anniversary. This Valentine's day, we celebrated our 1,5 year anniversary. We didn't do anything very special though, we agreed on just staying home, order sushi and watch the Great Gatsby. I also made pictures to share some parts of my day with you. :-)

Valentine's Day: Make-up look

This is my first time wearing pink eyeshadow! And I have to admit, I really like it. I always thought that it would make me look a bit sick so I always sticked to purple and blue. For this Valentine's Day look I couldn't really avoid pink so I went right into it ;-) I wanted to create a romantic, sweet and glowy make-up look. Want to know how I create a glowing face? Check the list below.

Valentine's Day: Romantic movies

Valentine's Day is a great day to catch up on a romantic movie. With so many sappy movies out there, it can be hard to decide what to watch. Here are my favourite romantic movies to give you some suggestions!

Valentine's Day: Cookies

First food-related post, yay! For this Valentine's Day I made V-day themed sugar cookies!

If you want to know the recipe I used, I recommend this website. Sugar cookies are the best cookies, especially when they're frosted!

Valentine's Day: Gift Guide for HIM

V-Day gift guide for HIM

The second Valentine's Day! Valentine's Day is swiftly approaching and it's time to find a lovely gift for your significant other. I picked some really fun Valentine's gifts for the lucky man in your life! I tried to find things matching every budget. I hope this post gives you some inspiration.

Valentine's Day: Outfits

Valentine's Day is coming and I'm going to make a serie of posts related to that special day. Outfits, food-related posts and more surprises coming up! I've been creating a lot of outfits on Polyvore and these are a few outfits I put together especially for Valentine's Day!

BASIC - CLASSY - NARS - (love the scarf)

The Body Shop (haul)

I got to pick a lot of products from The Body Shop as a Christmas present. I didn't have any experience with their products but the fact that TBS is a natural, (mostly) fair trade and against animal-testing brand increased my interest! A few of the products I got are from the special Christmas Edition, and I didn't want to wait any longer posting this because it would be a bit strange to talk about products from a Christmas Edition when it's not even winter anymore... hehe.

February Goals

Each year we all make New Years resolutions. Last year I decided to take that to the next level and make a small list of goals at the beginning of each month. I think setting goals that are not too big for yourself each month is a great way to just get things done. When I accomplish all of the goals I've made that month month, I think to myself - Hey, I proved to myself that I can do that!

A Healthy Life | Kuvings Slow Juicer

About a month ago, my dad and stepmom decided to buy the Kuvings B6000S Slow Juicer. My first reaction was: How on earth could you spend € 400 on a juicer?!

Well, I'm still happy that I didn't spend my money on it, but lawd this slowjuicer has become by BFF!

My Beauty Wishlist

Even though I don't really "need" more make-up than I already have, there are always new products on my wishlist. A lot of the things on my list are products I just can't afford right now... Gosh.. Make-up can be so expensive! Oh well, maybe someday. When I win the lottery. ;-)

The low quality of this Polyvore set is killing me, but I've spend a lot of time on this so hopefully it won't bother you too much.

What's on your wishlist? Let me know!

Rituals scented candles

Scented candles are heaven to me. First of all, I like it when my room smells nice and fresh. Second of all, I like the atmosphere candles provide. They give me a feeling of tranquillity and cosiness.

I also have a great love for Rituals, and I already have a lifetime supply of shower gels and body oils. When I discovered the Rituals scented candles for the first time, it felt like it was meant to be. Without any hesitation I bought the two scented candles that were available at the store and I completely fell in love with them.

This post isn’t going to be a review, I just wanted to show you a product that I really love.

What's your mission? | Q&A a day

What's your mission? What's missing in your life right now? Two and a half years ago, my friends gave me this amazing journal called 'Q&A a Day'. I can explain to you how cool this journal is in a very boring way, but I found a much better description and it explains perfectly what I like so much about this Q&A journal!

My favourite moisturizer: Yes to Cucumbers

In this post I want to share my favourite moisturizer with you. It's cheap, it's soothing, it's fresh, I'm so in love with it! It's the Yes to Cucumbers daily calming facial moisturizer.

My bedroom is probably the most important room in my house for me. It's my own little sanctuary where I can calm down and just be by myself, if necessary. Therefore, I'm very happy that I was able to completely decorate my room to my own taste.

I can be defined as a neat freak, clothes on the floor or an untidy desk is very rare in my bedroom. Before I go to sleep, I always make sure that my room is clean and tidy. If you're looking for tips on how to clean up your room, you've come to the right place! Before I post any articles devoted to cleaning, I'd like to show you some pictures i've made. I grabbed my Canon650D and i tried to capture my room in a way that it reflects me as a person.

Budget: KIKO Make Up

One of my favorite make-up brands is KIKO, without a doubt. KIKO Milano originated from Italy (as the name already states). I therefore first came across this brand when i was celebrating my holidays in Florence. When I entered a KIKO store for the first time, the first thing that caught my eye was the infinite range of eyeshadow colors and nail polish. And it got even better! Their product-pricing got me even more excited.

DIY: Memory Jar 2015

One of my resolutions of last year was to become more aware of all the amazing things that happened to me, but I had no idea how to do this. Early 2014 I discovered the Memory Jar DIY-project. Since 2015 has just begun, I thought it would be cool to share this idea with you!

A Memory Jar is a nice simple way to pay more attention to special events in your life, and relive them at the end of the year. Everytime something special or amazing happens throughout the year, you write it down on a small piece of paper and you pop it into the jar! At the end of the year, you take out all the pieces of paper and you read back over all of the amazing things that happend that year.

H&M New Season Spring/Summer '15

When I came home yesterday, I almost stepped on the new fashion catalog from H&M. I always love to browse through their new items and when the fashion catalog comes out they always give out a code that provides free delivery on your next order. Hooray!

Polyvore winteroutfits

I really wanted to make a post with my own photos, but unfortunately it was so dark outside today that I couldn't get the lightening right. So for today I decided to make a post with outfits created with Polyvore! I've always used Looklet to make outfits, but unfortunately for some reason the site doesn't work anymore... :( I'm not that familiar with Polyvore, but I think the outfits I made turned out pretty good... Let me know what you think!

Winter outfit #1

So we start off with a simple outfit (this was my first set every made, so don't be hard on me please! haha)

This is something I'd wear on a daily basis. While a lot of girls wear black during the winter, I personally think that it's very important to wear something white now and then. The boots in this set are an exact replica of a pair that I own. I absolutely love them. You can combine it with almost every outfit and I think they're classy and rebellious at the same time.

For the accessories I decided to go with a gold watch and bracelet (although I'll never be able to afford that Cartier bracelet, that doesn't keep me from including it in my set!).

And last but not least, a fuzzy wintercoat and nice warm scarf, and for a pop of colour a purple classy bag. I think every woman should own a bright coloured bag, to cheer up their outfit if necessary.

Winter outfits #2

For the next outfit I chose something elegant but can still be worn on a daily basis. Although it is winter and it is cold, don't neglect your crop tops! You can still wear them, especially when they're made of wool or another fabric that'll keep you warm. To avoid a complete black outfit I decided to go with a bordeaux-coloured skirt. When it comes to jewelry, I kept it simple. I absolutely love those triangle earrings!

You can either choose to wear heals with this look or just comfy flat shoes, it just depends on the situation! I must admit that I'm really proud of this look because it's a very decent look that you can wear at a lot of different occasions.

Let me know what you think!

Clinique Chubby Stick (intense)

The Clinique Chubby Sticks are many beauty bloggers' favorite. And I must admit, when I owned my first Chubby Stick, I was sold. The Clinique Chubby Stick feels like a lip balm, but at the same time has a hint of colour in it. After the normal Chubby Sticks proved to be a great success, Clinique introduced a variation: Chubby Stick intense. It's the perfect combination of a nourishing lip balm and a well-pigmented lipstick.

As a Christmas present, I've got one of each! And because I am full of praise about this product, I couldn't resist on writing a review.

Crush on Blush

Hello everyone!

Today, 01-01-2015, Crush on Blush is officially up in the air! It's the first day of 2015 and I'm very happy to, after hours of editing in HTML and searching for the perfect template, I'm ready to post my first article. Nothing special, just an introduction.

I must say that it feels a little weird to blog again. Over the last four years I've kept about five blogs, but when I read some posts back I'm almost ashamed about my use of language and layout, hehe. Meanwhile, I've become a little older and that can also be noticed when it comes to my writing style. The main reason for me to start blogging again is because I have so many thoughts about all kinds of things, and this blog is the perfect place to share my thoughts and ideas!

I will not stick to one subject, no. I want to blog about everything I like. The name 'Crush on Blush' already reveals one of my passions: I love everything that has to do with beauty. Many people link beauty to fashion, I can't say that I have a talent for putting great outfits together, but I always try my best! If I happen to be really content with my outfit, I'll make sure to make an OOTD (Outfit Of The Day) about it. ;-)

I'm also really into food related things. I've tried many different food-lifestyles and I like to try out new recipes. I try to eat healthier, but I have a real sweet tooth so to eat healthy is quite a challenge for me. You'll find healthy meals as well as comfort food here! I can't wait to share my recipes and food-experiences with you!

I'm not going reveal any more details about my future blog posts, follow my blog and you'll see what I have in store!

PS: As you may have noticed, English is not my native language. For more info about me, click here.
